All that is available now is 1.6 GB. Yes; it is a whopping 50% slash in data volume. If you go Always Min, your N5,000 will no longer get you 24 GB of data but 12 GB.

This revision of data plan volume cuts across both 4G and 3G <a href="http://www.mtnonline.com/data-plan">data</a> plans, so it doesn’t matter which is your preferred. You get a 50% cut in data volume across board. <br />

Of course, this brought about a negative effect on the browsing speed experienced by customers.

Unfortunately, the GSM operator has chosen to silently take a reverse. Before now, you could get 12GB for N3000. However, for same N3000, users will get just

6GB. And for N8000, glo users are only offered 16GB. That’s a huge difference you know?<br />

Etisalat remains the most expensive data network. On Etisalat, N1,000 will get you just 1 GB. But perhaps that tariff will translate into a faster, smoother experience? Only Etisalat internet subscribers can confirm that.<br />

Anyway, the Glo data honeymoon is over now. At least, the tariff icing on the cake is gone. Perhaps Glo 4G will remain as rock steady as it has been before now. As a matter of fact, chances are that it will. With the new Glo data volumes, fewer subscribers will be enticed to get on the network, especially the 4G plans, seeing how difficult it is to come across smartphones supporting their 4G LTE network. I still won’t bet on Glo 3G for reliability.

Following a Direction to the telecommunications service providers in the country, the operators, will from July 1, 2016, activate the DO NOT DISTURB facility which gives subscribers the freedom to choose what messages to receive from the various networks. With this Direction the operators have been mandated to dedicate a common Short Code (2442) which will enable subscribers take informed decisions.

Mr. Tony Ojobo, Director of Public Affairs, Nigerian Communications Commission (<a href="http://www.ncc.gov.ng/">NCC</a>) <span class="fullpost">in a statement, said this action was taken in order to protect subscribers from the nuisance of unsolicited texts, and therefore a direct regulatory response to the yearnings of the subscribers. By this action, he explained, the Commission has invoked a regulatory provision which had hitherto been overlooked by the operators. Taking cognizance of the broad range of services which include: Banking/Insurance/ Financial Products, Real Estate, Education, Health, Consumer Goods and Automobiles, Communication/ Broadcasting/ Entertainment/ IT, Tourism and leisure, Sports, Religion(Christianity, Islam, others), the Commission directed the operators to give the necessary instructions and clarifications that will enable subscribers subscribe to a particular service/services /none at all. <br /><script async="" src="//pagead2.googlesyndication.com/pagead/js/adsbygoogle.js"></script>

Consequently, bank customers will henceforth pay N50 stamp duty for money received into their accounts via electronic transfer, cash and cheques.<br />

This order was contained in a circular to all Deposit Money Banks and Other Financial institutions titled, Collection and Remittance of statutory charges on receipts of Nigeria Postal Service under the Stamp Duties Act”.<br />

The CBN stated, “As part of efforts to boost its revenue base, the federal government of Nigeria is exploring revenue opportunities in the non-oil sectors especially taxes and rates. It is in recognition of this fact that banks and other financial institutions are enjoined to support government’s revenue drive through compliance with the provisions of the Stamp Duties Act, LFN 2004 as reinforced by the court judgement in Suit No FHC/L/CS/1710/2013. In this regard, the CBN pursuant to the provisions of its enabling laws, hereby issues this circular to all DMBs other financial institutions:<br />

“With immediate effect, all DMBs and other financial institutions shall commence the charging of N50 per eligible transaction in accordance with the provisions of the Stamp Duties Act and Federal Government Financial Regulations 2009, that is, all receipts given by any bank or other financial institution in acknowledgment of services rendered in respect of electronic transfer and teller deposits from N1, 000 and above;<br />

“For all avoidance of doubt the following receipts are however exempted from imposition of stamp duties: payments of deposits or transfer by self to self whether inter or intra bank; and any form of withdrawals/transfers from saving accounts;<br />
It should be noted that these charges are only payable by receiving accounts;<br />

For a while now, We’ve been hearing rumors in the tech blogosphere about WhatsApp launching voice calling on its Android app. Before now, this feature was reserved for a selected few.Before now you needed to have an invite – (a call from a contact who had the feature enabled) – before you can start using<a href="http://ibnlive.in.com/news/how-to-activate-whatsapp-calling/534133-11.html"> WhatsApp voice call</a>. But as at 2 days before this post,<span class="fullpost"> <a href="http://venturebeat.com/2015/03/25/whatsapp-voice-calling-coming-to-ios-in-a-couple-weeks/">WhatsApp voice</a> call feature appears to have rolled out to everyone running the latest version of the app; which, at the time of writing is 2.11.561 on Android.<br />

The update is a server-side update so as long as you have had an up-to-date version installed for a while now, you won’t need to update again. As in the screenshot below, the primary screen on the Android app has been updated to include 3 tabs – Calls, Chat and Contacts. The last tab is a welcome addition as it means you no longer have to go back to another screen everytime you want to  check your contact<br />

It is no longer a news that GTBank is one of the leading banks in Nigeria as at the time of writing this post.Some of their services that made them unique include: the introduction on GTBank Token which we discussed last year(<a href="http://phonetechng.blogspot.com/2013/12/gtbank-token-get-it-now.html">Read it Here</a>), GTBank Master Card Secure Code(<a href="http://www.phonetechng.blogspot.com/2013/12/how-to-get-gtbank-mastercard-secure-code.html">Read Here</a>), Online Banking etc.<br />
Today we shall discuss how you will get your GTBank Mastercard activation code for online transactions<br />
Details after this cut.<span class="fullpost"><br />

<b>To Get Your Activation Code:</b><br />
<br />
1. Go to any <a href="http://gtbank.com/find-a-branch">branch of GTBank</a> close to you . Tell them you want to apply for Internet Banking or want to be profiled for Internet Banking and would want to apply for a “Token”.The bank will debit N2,100 or so for the Token once you log into their site and activate your Internet banking account (or Naira MasterCard). You will get the Token device that very day (or they will ask you to come back for it another day) together with a PIN which you need to change in the process of activating your Internet Banking account on their site.<br />

2. After getting your Token and Internet Banking details, go to the GTBank website - <a href="http://www.gtbank.com/">www.gtbank.com</a> - to activate your ATM card for online payment. Click on "Login" under "<a href="https://ibank.gtbank.com/ibank3/main.aspx">Internet Banking</a>" and then enter your Internet Banking account user details [User ID (Username) and Password] which should have been sent to your email address. Enter the login details and once inside your account, click on "Get Activation Code" button.<br />

3. On the next page, follow the instructions provided and fill the form on the page. Select your card type (MasterCard) and enter the expiry date (which you will find on your ATM card) and then press the little button on your Token. It should display some digits, type in those digits and click on the "Submit" button.<br />

4.. After you submit, <b>your code will be generated for you. The generation of the code means your ATM card has been activated. Keep this online activation code away from anybody except yourself, you shouldn't compromise it. </b><br />
<br />
5.. Your <a href="http://gtbank.com/personalbanking/cards/mastercard/gtbank-naira-mastercard">GTB Naira MasterCard (ATM card)</a> is now ready for making online payments anywhere you see the the MasterCard secured logo on the Internet. The code generated will be required every time you want to make payment online with the card.<br />

<li>You are to create a password, then click on OK and enter your desired password in the next screen.</li>
<li>Now connect the usb drive to your pc and create key on drive. Make sure you select the correct USB location.</li>

Finally, click OK button at the top right corner and the software will exit.<br />
Whenever you remove the usb drive, the pc will lock itself and will not unlock until you insert the usb drive.<br />
